    In five concise years, the Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus (HGMC) has established itself as one of Atlantic Canada’s most dynamic choral groups, demonstrating a broad and exciting repertoire of classical, choral and pop hits, infused with the entertaining and fellowship shared amongst its lower voiced, 2SLGBTQIA+ singers.

    With a membership of 80 singers, HGMC, which regularly sells out its multi-night concert series, has captured significant attention in Nova Scotia and an audience in the thousands, with its combination of meaningful song choices, challenging arrangements and cheeky, flamboyant camp.

The population of over thousand people has a decent portion of gay men and other members of the LGBT community, allowing for a vibrant scene.

     

    Thanks to the welcoming and accepting majority of residents, you will unlikely run-in any negative comments or experiences if you recognize as gay in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Multiple organizations host recurring events and receive funding from the government.

     

    The city has a very high percentage of same-sex couples and registered marriages compared to other parts of the state. It is one of the best places to look for a long-term relationship. In general, lgbtq+ dating in Halifax can be successful if you have enough time and resources. Visiting bars and restaurants in downtown is quite expensive.
