Representation, whether plain as a terrible eyebrow job or as subtle as a carefully coordinated outfit, is leisurely but surely growing for the LGBTQ+ community in Hollywood.

More and more actors are coming out and opening up about their gender, emboldened by the lesser potential for backlash aimed in their direction. While some choose to maintain their privacy – not out of fear but out of “God, the paparazzi are getting on my nerves about this!” – others proudly announce engagements, show breakups for all the world to see, and post their vacation snaps featuring their beloved partners – and sometimes kids too!

We still aren't where we need to be when it comes to equal treatment and opportunity for a lot of folks in Show Business but with the list of openly famous queer stars growing each year and the support for them following suit, it's only a matter of time before the score evens out.

Today, the LGBTQ+ community can look to several homosexual musicians for inspiration, but that wasn’t always the case. Several pioneering openly gay singers paved the way from a period when sexual orientation wasn’t a topic for widespread discussion. 

Indeed, these famous lgbtq+ musicians faced tremendous backlash and damage to their careers because of their honesty and openness.

As we explore queer performance art, we pay homage to those who came before us. In this piece, we’ll list some of the most influential names in the queer art movement and their impact on our past and present.

For many, June represents the month of pride; a moment to celebrate, inform and communicate all that is gay, gay and fabulous. Although today organism gay isn&#;t much of a deal, back in the 50&#;s it was a dangerous label to have. Throughout history, thousands contain lost their lives because they were labeled as &#;gay&#; or &#;queer&#; and many lived out their true sexual preferences in secrecy. As it&#;s almost the end of Pride month, I wanted to hold a look at some celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood who were gay, or at least thats what the rumours said. It&#;s complex to know if all these celebrities, and of course many more, were truly gay, but I wanted to share a rare stories just so see how far we&#;ve come. Content pride everyone.

The battle to uncover and reclaim the gay figures of old is a real one, with Homosexual historians accused of imposing new ideology on historical times. Yet why should a heterosexual assumption take precedence when historical evidence clearly points to the hostile – even if the synonyms ‘gay’ was yet to be used.  

We delve into the stories of six prominent gay figures &#; from emperors to poets, traveling through history from ancient times to the modern era.
