Andrew Gillum has appear out as attracted to both genders, months after opening up about a drunken Miami hotel incident

Andrew Gillum, a Florida politician and gubernatorial candidate, came out as bisexual person this week after rumors swirled for months about his sexuality after he was found drunk in a Miami Beach hotel in Protest with two men, one of which identified as a male escort.

Gillum told Tamron Hall in the season 2 premiere of her exhibit, which aired September 14, he had blacked out after drinking for several hours alone on the beach. When he came to, he woke up in a hotel room in a pool of his own vomit. 

Police reports state Gillum was found in a hotel suite with two men, one of whom had overdosed on crystal meth and later said he was a sex worker. 

Gillum said he did not have sex with either men, but many questioned his sexuality. 

 

"You didn't ask the scrutinize, you put it out there of whether I spot as gay. The answer is I don't identify as gay but I do identify as bisexual," he said in the interview. "And that is something that I've never shared publicly

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Andrew Gillum, Florida's Democratic nominee for governor in , told a television interviewer he is bisexual, responding to rumors swirling since March after he was found intoxicated and unconscious in a hotel room with two men, including one who works as a male escort.

"I don't identify as gay but I do identify as bisexual," Gillum told Tamron Hall on her syndicated talk show, which aired Monday. "And that is something that I contain never shared publicly before."

The former Tallahassee mayor, 41, appeared on the demonstrate with his wife, R. Jai. They have three young children. He did not return a ring Monday from The Paired Press seeking comment.

But host Tamron Hall also revealed in an online after show that R. Jai also confided it was a journey to reach that understanding herself. In fact, R. Jai revealed she had to come to grips with the realities of marrying a double attraction man before she could track through with her engagement.

Hall did not play clips from that portion of a lengthy pre-recorded interview with both Gillums. But she shared details dating support to when the Tallahassee couple were still just dating that R. Jai Gillum revealed to her on the record.

Former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum came out as bisexual Monday in an interview with broadcaster Tamron Hall.

“You set it out there whether or not I detect as gay, and the answer is I don't identify as gay, but I do identify as bisexual," Gillum told Hall.

It’s the first time the Democratic nominee for governor in Florida has spoken publicly about his sexuality.

“Coming out as bi+ looks different for every person,” tweeted Alphonso David, president of the Human Rights Campaign, a national LGBTQ civil rights group. “No matter the circumstances, all people deserve respect. @AndrewGillum sharing his story will no doubt help others who may be struggling with coming out on their own terms.”

Gillum’s supporters celebrated his decision on social media.
